La battaglia esemplare di Vittorio contro Facebook ha avuto un grande risalto in rete tra ieri e oggi. Molti hanno sottolineato, giustamente, l'esigenza di tutela.
A livello di scenario, sebbene in alcuni casi il modello di gestione autonoma della tecnologia possa ancora funzionare (ad esempio con i blog), andremo fisiologicamente verso un utilizzo sempre più massiccio di piattaforme proprietarie. Dico fisiologicamente perchè (anche nel classico modello dell'innovazione di Schumpeter) l'aumento di scala che sta vivendo oggi internet non si può più gestire "in piccolo". Per sostenere i numeri con affidabilità, sicurezza e sviluppo servono i capitali. I grandi ambienti della Rete, quelli dove staranno le persone, saranno sempre proprietari. A novembre scrivevo sull'Espresso (non online, purtroppo):
Il punto è semplice: man mano che milioni di persone investono parti crescenti del loro tempo vitale «dentro» gli ambienti di rete, producono valore. Il valore può essere fatto di contenuti, di puro capitale sociale o può essere valore in senso più stretto (in ambienti come Second Life, ad esempio, si investe denaro vero). Ma in generale vale il principio per cui ad un investimento si collega la necessità di tutelarlo e quindi diventa sempre più interessante l'osservazione di come si vadano costruendo appartenenze «politiche» online.
Non è difficile immaginare che (aumentando il numero di persone connesse e la quantità di tempo vitale "investito" in rete) così come siamo interessati alle scelte del nostro governo cittadino o nazionale, inizieremo a manifestare sempre maggior interesse anche per le scelte di chi governa le piattaforme tecnologiche che utilizziamo in maniera importante. Con o senza consapevolezza lo facciamo già: pensiamo alle reazioni quando Friendfeed o Facebook hanno cambiato l'interfaccia (con "risposte" che sembrano costruite sulla percezione della piattaforma come "bene comune" e non come proprietaria). Ma ci sono tantissimi altri esempi possibili.
